Kaco TWINLIP sealing pistons QTDF is a new complete piston generation for pneumatic cylinders. Their development became necessary, as the operating conditions for pneumatic cylinders have expanded considerably. Particular importance was attached to an extension of the service life in the case of lacking lubrication, a favorable frictional force behavior, and a reduction of the stick-slip tendency.

In order to guarantee the operation of cylinders with dry or untreated air, TVVINLIP sealing pistons have surrounding lubricant depots between the sealing lips and the guide piece which are divided up into numerous pockets by axially arranged ridges. As a result of this, good lubrication is guaranteed even if the cylinder is in a horizontal position because the ridges prevent the lubricant from running together when the cylinder heats up.

The newly designed completely molded sealing lips, which are rounded at the sealing edge, cause a low frictional force and a low stick-slip tendency. High resistance to wear and tear and long service life are guaranteed thanks to the pressing skin on the contact
surfaces of the sealing lips.

The rubber jacketing on both sides of the metal washer provides not only good corrosion protection but also sure static sealing of the piston at the rod shoulder. Recesses on both impact surfaces arranged in the form of a star cause immediate pressure action on the complete piston surface and thus cause the fine release of the cylinder from the end position.

As the dimensions of TWINLIP sealing pistons correspond with those of the QTD … NG double cup seals (page 40), these are mutually interchangeable.

Figure 43 shows a cylinder construction for operation with untreated or dry compressed air, using a TWINLIP sealing piston QTDF, a BILIP-P seal scraper element QHLP (description on page 36) and a CYBU cushion seal PEI (description on page 20).

If the simple version of the sealing piston is used, the sealing lip not subjected to pressure is removed. Refer to the table on page 39 for the installation dimensions of single-type QTEF sealing pistons. Due to the symmetrical structure of these sealing pistons, it does no matter from which side a sealing lip is removed. This is advantageous for installation and for keeping spare parts.

TWINLIP sealing pistons are normally manufactured from SYGUMIN materials on an NBR basis with a Shore A hardness of 80. For special applications, they can also be manufactured from fluor elastomers.
