The Parker Prädifa cylinder sealing set profile D1 consists of one or several chevron rings (profile DM), together with a header ring (profile DS) and a back-up ring (profile DD). The set varies according to the application (plunger, single- or double-acting pistons). Header ring and back-up ring can be also produced from metal. These metal rings are not part of our product range but they can be produced according to the drawing and size list presented on page F31.
The chevron rings can be radially preloaded because of their profile and are therefore effective in sealing at low pressures with low friction. The operating pressure acting on the chevron rings produces the necessary (force to press them) against the mating surfaces. To prevent the individual chevrons from swimming in the groove, the
seal height and the groove length are selected to avoid axial movement.

Working pressure: ≤ 500 bar
Working temperature: —40 to + 100 °C
Surface speed: ≤ 0,5 m/s
Mainly used to seal upstroke press pistons and plungers where the return stroke takes place by virtue of their own weight. Also used to seal double-acting pistons in hydraulic cylinders. The chevrons profile DM are also successfully used as plunger seals in high
pressure pumps.
Installation:
Due to the relatively low elasticity of the fabric chevrons, an installation groove that is open on one side must be provided. During installation seals must not be drawn over sharp edges, thus avoiding damaging the sealing lips.
Compounds:
Back-up ring: NBR-based hard fabric reinforced rubber
(Q5021/05022).
Chevrons: NBR-based fabric reinforced rubber (05011/Q5012).
Header ring: NBR-based hard fabric reinforced rubber (05021/05022) or Polyacetal (POM-W5001).
